About the project
Routine inspection of a reinforced concrete box culvert in Mooloolaba, Queensland, showed that action was required. Obvious deterioration, particularly of the downstream end, caused concern about the possibility of collapse. Flood modelling showed that a reduction in flow capacity was not viable, however traditional options that didn’t reduce flow capacity required extensive excavation, lengthy road closures, and the relocation of telecommunication services, electrical conduits, and a water main which all crossed the culvert.
Channeline was the selected solution, thanks to our tight-fitting modular linings, and smooth internal surface that meant no flow capacity would be lost (and only a small amount of internal cross section). Further, the works could be completed with no excavation and no need for tree removal.
