About the project
In collaboration with iLine Technologies, Channeline rehabilitated a culvert underneath a heavily-trrafficked road in Leicestershire, UK. The existing structure exhibited signs of failure, primarily erosion in the invert. The increased flow resulting from this erosion required extensive over-pumping and damming measures during the rehabilitation process.
To address the specific non-circular shape of the structure, Channeline custom-made the GRP pipeline. This tailored solution showcased the versatility and adaptability of our GRP technology in accommodating various infrastructure configurations, ensuring a seamless fit for the rehabilitation process.
Beyond the structural rehabilitation, the project embraced an innovative approach to biodiversity. iLine Technologies Ltd took the initiative to apply for all necessary Environmental Agency (EA) consent forms and collaborated with Channeline to integrate sustainability-focused elements into the rehabilitation process. The installation of a bat roost and the strategic placement of natural stones on the smooth surface of the pipeline encouraged the return of insects, promoting a balanced ecosystem for local species. Additionally, the incorporation of rip rap helped slow the flow to an acceptable level, showcasing the team's commitment to restoring ecological harmony.
